Frequently-asked questions
-
DO YOU WALK-IN? DO I NEED AN APPOINTMENT?We DO take walk in’s and enjoy them, however it is on a first come, first serve basis. No reservation needed, just go in and talk to the free tattoo artist.
-
HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?You can contact us via email, FaceBook, Instagram, our website, or just a good old fashioned phone call. We will be happy to assist you in the process from the start. Prior to your appointment, we like to have a free consult with our clients to discuss the project and go over details, pictures, sketches, placement size, etc. It is vital that you and your artist are on the same page so they can begin to design your custom art piece. At that point we request a deposit to hold your appointment slot and to have your artist begin designing. On appointment day, we will make any last minute alterations that are necessary to make the perfect design for your masterpiece.
-
WHY DO I HAVE TO MAKE A DEPOSIT?A deposit ensures that you and your artist are both dedicated to the project and taking it seriously….and that you will show up on your appointment day as well. All deposits made are deducted from your total on appointment day. Deposits are transferable to another date, but are non refundable or transferable, unless you give your artist at least 48 hours notice.

HOW MUCH DOES A TATTOO COST?* How much does a car cost? Or a house? Due to the complex nature of our work, we do not quote prices over the phone or by email/messages. Only your artist can give you an estimate once they have a clear understanding of the project on hand. Furthermore, it is not always possible to judge, especially with a large piece, what the exact total cost will be. Sometimes, larger tattoo designs will evolve over time, and will change from the initial plan and therefore the cost estimate. It is important to keep good communications with your artist about these details and how changes and multiple sessions can/will impact your final cost. * For more simple tattoos, we have a shop minimum. However small or “simple” a tattoo may seem, the cost of setting up and preventing the risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens is included in our prices. Just because a tattoo is “small” does not mean that it will be cheaper. Many times, small intricate tattoos are more complex and time consuming to tattoo. * Every artist works differently and gauges their pricing accordingly. * Remember, when getting a tattoo, you are purchasing a piece of art that will last forever. Good tattoos aren’t cheap! And most times, a cheap tattoo isn’t very good.
-
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?Cash is always king...but we do accept Credit Cards and PayPal for a small service fee.
-

-
MY APPOINTMENT IS COMING UP….WHAT DO I NEED TO DO? OR BRING WITH ME?Even if you are getting a smaller piece, we always recommend a good night’s rest and a solid meal prior to your appointment. If there are any particular drinks or snacks that you would like, please bring them. If you are doing a piece that will require you to expose certain areas of your body, please think ahead and dress accordingly or bring something to change into here. Ink seepage or splattering is always a possibility! Please don’t wear your favorite outfit.

CLIENTS WITH CANCER / DISABILITIES / BLOOD BORNE ILLNESSProtecting all our client's health is our number one responsibility! Our first step is educating our clients on how a tattoo can affect their body. Receiving a tattoo is a serious procedure done to the body. A tattoo is an open wound and just like with any open wound the body is prone to infection. These infections can lead to death. Clients with Cancer/Disabilities/Blood Borne Illness have a greater risk of infections due to lower immune systems. It is important to make sure you are healthy enough to receive a tattoo and your body can also heal a tattoo. We highly encourage our clients to consult their physician to see if their body can receive and heal a tattoo. If you are unsure, please consult your physician. We also may require a doctors note before proceeding.
-
CAN I SEE MY DRAWING BEFORE THE APPOINTMENTMany times, no. Our artists are constantly drawing and creating ideas for our clients. We like to take advantage of all the time we have up until your appointment, to make sure everything is as awesome as it can be. You can check out your drawing when you come in for you appointment. Small changes can always be done on spot, if you wish for a larger change; the appointment date may need to be pushed back. However, during your consultation we will have a good idea of what your looking for, to ensure that everything is on point when you come in for the your tattoo
-
CANCELLATION POLICYWe require 72 hours notice to cancel and reschedule you appointment. As long as you let the artist know within that time you will be allowed one reschedule. Our artist put an enormous amount of time and energy into the drawing for your tattoo, if adequate notice is not given, your deposit will be forfeit.

AFTERCAREThe aftercare of your tattoo is just as important, if not more important, than getting the actual tattoo. Please keep in mind that tattoos are not permanent until they have fully healed. This means that if a tattoo doesn’t heal properly, it may not turn out as you wanted it to. This is why we also give our customers the proper aftercare steps in order for the tattoo to come out perfect. There are a few common misconceptions and mistakes that are often heard. The first is not washing the area of a tattoo for an extended period of time while using lotion over the tattoo. Lotions do work well to care for tattoos, but the problem is that it suffocates the area. The tattoo needs to air out in order to heal. If a large sum of lotion is often used over the tattoo, it can cause an infection. If you use lotion, be sure to only use a small amount, and rinse and reapply the lotion rather than leaving it on for a long time. When washing the area, make sure you don’t submerge the tattoo under water. This means no diving into pools either! When you clean the area, use a damp clean cloth, and pat it around the area. Be sure to dry it properly to avoid infections. It’s also a good idea to use fragrance free lotions and soaps as it may irritate the skin. Another thing you want to avoid is direct sunlight after a fresh tattoo. If you’re planning on getting a tattoo and you’re leaving off to Cancun the next day or it’s a hot summer day out, keep that tattoo covered. Don’t go off to the beach and let the sun beam on it. The sun will cause the tattoo to burn, scab, heal poorly, and also it will hurt.

What to Consider & Ask Your Aesthetician:- If you are unsure which PMU brow technique is right for you, set-up a permanent makeup consultation to go over all of your options and assess your brow and skin needs. - If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to anything, be sure to ask your aesthetician about the products being used and possibly to spot test beforehand. - If you use retinol, chemical peels, Botox, or take Accutane, please consult with us and do your research beforehand because these products may make your skin more sensitive and disrupt the results. - If you are pregnant or breast feeding, you cannot have these treatments done.
-
Pre-Appointment:- Bring in photos to show us your brow or lash line inspiration so we can have an idea of what you want. - Do not wear any makeup the day of appointment. - If you are getting a lash line enhancement, do not wear contacts as it get irritate your eyes. - Do not take aspirin or any blood-thinning medicine the day of your appointment to avoid complications.
-
WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKEUP?It is the micro-implantation of coloring pigments into the skin for aesthetic purposes to enhance, contour, and outline facial features. It is also a valuable procedure for camouflaging scars, burns, skin pigmentation variances caused by vitiligo, correcting some facial irregularities, or to further enhance facial rejuvenation and post-operative treatments.
-
IS SIMILAR TO TATTOOING?It has some of the same qualities, yet it is very different. Permanent-Line uses only the techniques, tools, and pigments specifically designed for micro-pigmentation procedures, making it safe, sterile, and painless. Permanent makeup clinicians also use effective topical anesthetics that are not allowed for use by tattoo artists. Permanent-Line uses instruments much more delicate in design that provide natural-looking results.
-
CAN I AHAVE MORE THAN ONE PROCEDURE DONE DURING THE SAME APPOINTMENT?Yes, you can. Times will vary depending on which procedures you would like to have done. Let us know when you make your booking so we can allocate the correct time slot.
-
HOW LONG WILL MY MICROBLADING LAST?Microblading lasts around 12 to 18 months depending on a few factors that can influence pigment retention, like skin colour, skin type, skin care products, hormones, medication etc. and it requires a colour boost when it starts fading.
-
HOW LONG DOES EACH PROCEDURE TAKE?The initial procedure will generally take approximately 2-2.5 hours; there are records to establish; photographs to take; desired design and colour to discuss; the procedure to perform, and the aftercare requirements to discuss. Follow up or colour refresher procedures usually do not require the same amount of time.
-
IS IT PAINFUL?Most people experience some discomfort. We use numbing cream and anaesthetic before and during the treatment to minimise any discomfort.
-
IS IT SAFE?Our health and safety standard is strict and our staff are highly-skilled. We use disposable tools and the highest-quality organic micro pigment, so you know you are in safe hands.
-
WHAT’S A TOUCH-UP AND DO I NEED ONE?Often the tattooed colour is not perfect after the initial procedure heals. Permanent cosmetic procedures are a process and at least one follow-up to the initial procedure should be scheduled. It is recommended that any required detail work to the original procedure be performed no sooner than four weeks after the original procedure. The minimum standard for follow-up detail work for lip procedures is six weeks. Lips have a different healing agenda than procedures performed on other parts of the face due to their delicate nature. The cited timeframes will vary depending on the health profile and age of the client, but these are good minimum standards for consideration.
-
HOW DO I KNOW THE RESULT WILL LOOK LIKE WHAT I EXPECT?We always draw and visualize for you to see how the result will look first, once we get your approval, we will go ahead with the procedure.
-

-

They're a sign that the skin is healing. You can use a disposable cold pack to ease symptoms. Mild swelling, redness and tenderness Itchiness and dry, flaking skin Our 5 Aftercare Top Tips 1. WHAT IS A DEFINITION OF PIERCING?Body piercing is the insertion of an ornament into a perforation made in the tissue,(1) for decorative, cultural, spiritual, or other reasons. (1) Depending on the area of the body that is being pierced, tissue of various types will be perforated, (for example the cartilage of the ear, erectile tissue of the nipple, or mucous membrane and muscle of the tongue). Legislation sometimes excludes piercing of the ear under the definition of “body piercing,” but the health and safety issues concerning body piercing apply equally to the ear and to all parts of the body. This exclusion undermines the organization’s effectiveness in protecting the public health.
-
WILL IT HURT?Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer to this question. Every individual experiences pain differently, therefore what hurts for one client may not necessarily hurt another. However, in general here is some basic information that we can give clients in regard to the pain factor: - Cartilage piercings (inner and upper ear, septum) tend to hurt more than fleshy tissue. - Tongue piercings tend to hurt the least out of any piercing because it is generally pierced between the two muscles. We often hear that the clamp we use when piercing is more uncomfortable than the piercing itself. We offer freezing for some piercings which can decrease or totally take away any discomfort. Remember, your nerves will increase any pain you might feel. The most important thing to do when getting pierced is to relax as much as possible and concentrate on breathing slowly and steadily – this will do the most in minimizing any discomfort.
-
HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE?To get a piercing without a parent or guardian present we require the client to be at least 16 years of age with photo identification for the majority of piercings. Genital piercings, as well as some facial piercings (anti-eyebrow, cheek, etc.) are available to anyone 18+.
-
CHILDREN’S EAR PIERCING SERVICESWe use single-use hypodermic needles for our piercings, so we like to take a bit of extra time with our younger clients to make sure that they are fully aware and prepared for the procedure. We offer professional children’s ear piercing services, (first ear lobes) to children as young as 5 years old, providing they demonstrate a willingness to get pierced, and an understanding that piercings are permanent body modifications.
-
I HAVE ALLERGIES TO CHEAP / POOR JEWELRY. CAN YOU PIERCE ME WITH GOLD, STERLING SILVER etc…?"Creation Body Piercing uses jewelry made of implant grade titanium (F-136). This implant grade metal will heal a piercing much faster than gold or silver, with a little chance of complication. Implant grade titanium can be sterilized in an autoclave and will never develop surface rust. Allergic reactions in body piercing, when they occur, are rarely due to this metal, but from other factors such as mechanical irritation or harsh cleaning products. Allergic reactions typically include itchiness, redness and swelling, with a discharge or clear fluid that is not lymph. Titanium is virtually nickel free and it is allergy safe.
-
CAN I GET PIERCED WHILE PREGNANT/NURSING?We do not pierce anyone who is pregnant or nursing. Your system is under tremendous stress from dramatic changes that leave you and your baby susceptible to increased risks of infection, allergic reaction and/or rejection. It is best to wait until you are finished nursing before considering a new tattoo or piercing. On a brighter note, if you already have a piercing that is healed and comfortable there is rarely a medical reason to take out your jewelry. There are flexible jewelry alternatives available if as your pregnancy progresses any problems with fit or comfort arise.
-
CAN I SLEEP IN IT?Ideally NOT. This is especially true for ear cartilage piercings. Sleeping on piercings can be painful and cause healing complications. Even without pain it is likely that sleeping on a piercing will result in unsightly scarring. Often the weight of the body on the jewelry will cause it to move the piercing into a crooked an unflattering position. This shifting out of alignment is especially problematic in cases of multiple or paired piercings, leaving them unflattering and imbalanced. Do your best to stay off your piercing.
-
CAN I GO TO SWIMMING?Sorry but NO. Lakes, rivers, oceans, bays, streams, creeks, pools, puddles hot tubs and even bathtubs (but not showers! Please shower!) are all to be avoided. Chemicals in treated water can irritate piercings and still leave them open to infection.
-
CAN I EAT/TALK NORMALLY AFTER GETTING A NEW ORAL PIERCING?It takes a little time to adjust but you can do it! We suggest that you stay away from extremely spicy, acidic, or salty foods for the first week. Sipping ice water will help minimize swelling which will make speech and eating easier. Eat slowly and deliberately being careful to avoid biting down on the metal jewelry and doing damage to your teeth! Last but not least: SHORTEN your jewelry as soon as swelling allows. Downsizing guidelines are in your aftercare instructions.
-
Basic Piercing AftercareThe first step to healing is to be healthy! Happy, healthy bodies make for happy, healthy piercings. Good personal hygiene and a stress-free life, complemented by a nutritious diet with proper hydration will enable the body to heal faster. The combination of showering daily along with proper saline irrigation will reduce chances of infection and minimize irritation. Keep it simple: eat your veggies and please, keep your filthy hands off.
-
Cleaning InstructionsSterile saline is the universal accepted choice for wound care in hospital and medical facilities. Sterile saline and shower water are the only “solutions” to use directly on your piercing. - Sterile saline sprays are the perfect portable isotonic solution. When used properly they will not damage tissue or cause allergy or alter the normal healing process. - Irrigation is an essential component of healing. Flush your piercings after a daily shower and periodically throughout the day, as needed. - Wound Wash sterile saline is available at Adorn with a specific piercing-friendly tip. When purchasing sterile saline spray from the drug store make sure and AVOID any and all additives…especially preservatives or anything “anti-bacterial.” - Special circumstances may arise where heating and cooling through sterile saline saturated gauze compresses is indicated. Check in with your piercer to see if your situation qualifies.
-
Oral Piercing Aftercare- Get a new toothbrush. - Rinse the inside of your mouth with saltwater solution approximately 4-5 times daily, primarily after meals and especially before you go to bed. - Avoid any mouthwashes with alcohol, peroxide or witch hazel. Biotene is one good option. - Eliminating (or at least cutting back on) smoking and drinking alcohol will help avoid healing complications. - Once the swelling period is past it is ESSENTIAL you come in for a down-size to protect your teeth and gums. - Ice water often helps as do anti-inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, when taken as directed.
-
Possible InfectionActual infections are rare. Often what clients feel is an infection is simply an irritation that can be remedied without medical intervention. Signs of infection include pain, swelling, heat, and discolored discharge. Do not remove your jewelry! Bacteria cause infections, not piercings. Stop by the studio at the first sign of trouble. If we can’t help you we will gladly refer you to a physician.
-
The No’s (Seriously No!)NEVER handle your piercing! - Hands are very dirty, no matter how clean they look. The vast majority of infections come from people touching their piercings. - Avoid chemicals: DO NOT use rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Bactine®, Neosporin®, antiseptics, anti-bacterial soaps or any other chemicals. - NO ointments, lotions, creams, hair sprays/dye or makeup or glitter on or near the piercing site. - NO swimming/submerging: avoid lakes, rivers, pools, bathtubs, hot tubs, oceans, creeks, ponds or mud puddles. Waterproof bandages may or may not work sufficiently to prevent contamination. Consider the consequences when deciding whether or not to take the risk. - Avoid tight, restrictive clothing at the piercing site (e.g. pantyhose or restrictive waistbands on a navel). Breathable cotton fabrics are best for healing. - Avoid sleeping on a piercing for the entire healing period – especially cartilage! Put fresh, clean, animal dander and fur-free linens and towels into use. - NO tanning during healing! Delicate healing tissue can be sensitive to heat, oils, and chemicals used in this environment. - Avoid other people’s body fluids: sweat, saliva, and semen. - DO NOT remove your jewelry for any reason during the healing process. Healed piercings may not remain fully open if jewelry is removed for even short periods of time. If jewelry DOES come out, please return to a professional studio immediately for assistance! We can usually get it back in even if you can’t. - The use of cotton swabs is sometimes warranted to remove stubborn lymph or debris from jewelry. The bleach and fibers of these products can be damaging to fragile tissue. Dampen with sterile saline and use VERY gently.
